The new SanDisk iXpand Flash Drive is fast and flawed

CNET editor Dong Ngo only watches stuff in epic HD. And the new SanDisk iXpand Flash Drive, while super fast, can’t let him do that. How disappointing!

Got this for transferring photos from old to new iPad but it won’t. Don’t know if apple or sandisk is responsible for incompatibility:(

Bought one to backup all iCloud files. Failed, failed. You can backup photos and contacts on iPad. For some reason it stores PDFs but files are blank. Cannot backup iCloud or iPad folders like pages and number folders. When you store vault files, cannot open them in vault. If the purpose is to create a iCloud backup from iPad to iXpand, this will not work. Also creates a Windows vault and IOS vault on flash drive. This seems like two separate secure vaults making file transfer between iXpand and different vault impossible. Not what I wanted, ability to save iCloud file to external device.

The guy has a good on camera persona, but his accent is pretty thick. Seems to be at least halfway knowledgeable about tech, but then again I could only understand half of what he said. lol

The design of the drive is flawed and exerts side pressure if you use a thick case which causes errors.

Sorry, I do not mean to be disrespectful, but I had really tough time understanding some of his review.

Shorther battery? I hope they make one with a charger slot… well one that is not so in the way with a charger slot because the old one seems bulky. BTW for androids with micro sd card slots, Micro SDs hardly effect battery life. Some androids have actually good sound quality like the high quality sound you get from some apple devices. My S7 has great audio quality for me when I use my own set sound settings with the eq set flat. I use Blackplayer with my S7, but with my iPod Touch whit h has a little biy better sound quality I use Vox player whitch makes things supper high quality unlike the apple music player whitch sound terrible compared to other players and Vox has it's own Cloud storage and I use a hotspot from my for my iPod Touch 6 to play songs. You can also download songs for offline use if you do not have lots of GB or data. FYI music streaming has very little data usage so if you use data for music in cars plus just wifi for cars you should be ok with your data being used if you have more than 2 gb of data for whatever time period.

Seems good. I’m not sure most folks download entire movies to their phones, just videos & pictures ?

Expensive piece of garbage. Bought a small (real) 2TB USB 3.0 flash drive for Android with OTG for well under $500. Over 350MB/sec transfer rate.
